We’re thrilled to announce our latest Project SEARCH program launch!
This school-to-work program will see students with disabilities from the Upper Grand District School Board and Wellington Catholic District School Board gain 700 hours of vital on-the-job training and experience in partnership with the University of Guelph.
Students who participate in Project SEARCH are three times more likely to find work after graduating high school than students with disabilities who don’t take part in the program.
The signing ceremony with students and other participants was held in Guelph on September 17. Len Baker, March of Dimes Canada President and CEO, as well as Lesley Smith, Executive Director and VP of Skills Development and Employment, were both in attendance.
“Today marks the beginning of an incredible journey for these young adults from Guelph,” Baker said. “Project SEARCH offers a unique path for students with disabilities in their final year of high school that helps them acquire and grow the skills and confidence they need to find meaningful employment.
“It’s only when partners come together who see the possibility of adapting programming to meet the needs of students that we succeed. Today, we embrace the joy of what’s possible”
