The next session of Paving the Path for Work begins June 6

Starting June 6, we’re offering a free, four-week virtual program for people who have never worked or have limited work experience. Thanks to the generous support from Scotiabank, March of Dimes Canada is offering Paving the Path for Work for free.

Has a disability or another barrier prevented you from picturing yourself in the workforce? Are you interested in learning about the types of jobs that are best suited to your personality? Would you like to know how working would affect the benefits you might be currently receiving?

If you’d like to learn about the world of work during facilitated sessions and virtual tours of workplaces, then Paving the Path is for you!

We’re currently accepting applications for the upcoming session, starting on Monday, June 6. The program will be offered in English.

Facilitated by a member of MODC’s Employment Services team, Paving the Path for Work will be held over four weeks – for 30 to 35 hours per week. As part of a small group of participants, you’ll:

  • Take virtual tours of a variety of workplaces
  • Learn from guest speakers, including employers who hire people living with disabilities
  • Discuss workplace etiquette
  • Improve your financial skills
  • Find out how assistive technology can help remove barriers
  • Build your confidence and independence

Thanks to Scotiabank’s generous support, Paving the Path for Work will be offered twice a year (in June and September) for the next two years. Please note that with the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person meetings, and workplace tours are not an option for the June session.

However, depending on local public health directives, the goal is to have in-person or a mix of approaches in the future.
